When you withdraw coins from Binance exchange, they give you an option to withdraw it via BEP2 or BSC. BSC is the option you want to use if you want to interact with Binance Smart Chain. Interacting with BSC requires you have to BNB in your wallet as that is what you will use to pay network fees (few cents). This is similar to how Ethereum requires ETH to interact with their blockchain.
